description At the September 1990 dedication of the Turtle Flambeau Scenic Waters Area, then Governor Tommy Thompson described the property as "the jewel of Wisconsin". An apt description considering the state owns 38,000 acres including 114 miles of mostly undeveloped shoreline and 195 islands. A total of 66 campsites are available, all of them boat access only. Only 6 group sites are available for reservations, the other 60 are first come, first served.
drivingDirection Launch from either Fisherman's or Sprinstead landing, boat to the east shore of Big Island. Fisherman's Landing - From Mercer travel north on Hwy 51 to County FF. Turn left on Popko Circle East. Go about six miles to the landing entrance. Springstead Landing -From Mercer, travel south on Hwy 51 to Hwy 47. Take Hwy 47 to Hwy 182. Go through the small town of Springstead and turn right (north) on Flowage Rd. Follow this to the landing.

You may go directly to the site and your receipt will be posted. Dogs are welcomed but please clean up after your pet and respect other campers No running water ( no potable water you must bring your own)or garbage receptacles (pack in and out) One vault toilet building per cluster of three sites Boat access only. You cannot drive to these sites. Limit of 7-15 persons for each site All sites are wheelchair accessible This campground is accessible by boat only. There is no booth to check in. A card with your party's name will be attached to your site post and will indicate your departure date.
